At the end of Oct, The 4th International Symposium of Qigong took place in Italy with the support of the global Qigong community and concluded with great success.

The Symposium was held on Oct. 28-30 in Rome, Italy. Twenty-four Qigong masters and researchers from nine countries presented and provided instruction to Qigong to improve individual wellbeing and health. Major Italian media including National TV News TG5 did special reports on the event.

Master Marisa Vocca of Italy was the chairperson of the symposium. She stated that the Symposium was set out with four important goals and they were obtained.

  • Introduce Qigong, its theoretical principles, the ancient philosophy behind the practice and its applications over time to give to the participants a panoramic view of the vast art and science behind it, which is at the heart of classical Chinese medicine. This goal was well met. With the wide media coverage of the event, not only did the attendees learn about the healing art, but also over 7 million Italians were also informed about Qigong and its health benefits.
  • Enable all those interested in health and energy disciplines to meet the top experts, researchers, and leaders around the world in the Qigong field, and to propose possible projects dedicated to individual wellness and health through their experience in various countries. Masters Dr. Effie Chow (USA), Nadia Linda Hole (USA), Qin Xiping (Japan/China), Yuhong Xie (China/Wales), Sonia Gaemi (Iran), Thomas Shanahan (Ireland), Yoshiaki Omura (Japan/USA), Abraham Shue Yan Poon (Hong Kong), Mary Plunkett (Ireland), Stanley Ngui (Canada), and Wang Yan (China/Netherlands) joined the Italian experts Paola Conti, Riccardo Masetti, Giovanbattista Scavo, Lauran Rubrianti, Amanda Carloni, Alfredo Albiani, Stefano Magno, Anna Paola Maestrini, Giuliana Nataloni, Giuseppe Paterniti, Ulla Scuccimarra, Maria and Massimo Bonucci in providing excellent lectures and instructions.
  • Compare experience and knowledge through presentations, reports on projects underway, practical demonstrations, and scientific studies. There were presentations of Qigong therapies for eating disorders, cancer patients, psychotherapy, and others.
  • Collect new ideas and plans, proposals and requests by interested parties, in order to develop future projects focused on diverse fields of application, in collaboration and cooperation with other organizations and sectors, which already are dedicated to wellness, health and inner growth. “Qigong between art, science, and profession” shared by Italian Association of Qigong Professionals and “Refined Intention, attention, and effectiveness”, “Relax Life: Building the foundations to feed consciousness”, “Qigong as an instrument of inner revolution and liberation of consciousness”, and other topics provided rich context for participants to build upon. There were also a few penal discussions for knowledge exchange as well as opportunities for collaboration.

More than 300 people attended the Symposium during the three days. A delegation of more than one hundred students aged 15 and 16 also participated in the Symposium during the last day. They were invited to demonstrate Qigong exercise. Additionally, there were post-symposium workshops hosted by Grandmasters Dr. Effie Chow and Dr. Wang Yan on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Master Marisa Vocca and Dr. Massimo Bonucci, president of ARTOI, a National Association of Research on Integrative Therapies for Oncology, were both interviewed by National TV News TG5 and broadcasted on Channel 5 and Mediaset TGcom24. Overall, the Symposium was a magnificent success as it increased the networking and collaborative efforts of those already involved in Qigong as well as promoting the art to those who would otherwise be unaware. Events such as the Symposium play a pivotal role in the continued flourishing of the healing art of Qigong around the world.
